Interest Group Descriptions
Information about how to start an interest group can be found on this page.
This is the list of current interest groups. Past groups that need a leader to continue are at the end of the list.
For each, there is the Interest Group Name, the name of the group leader, and the description they provided about their group.
Art Lovers and Makers - Mary Jo Watlington
An opportunity the 3rd Saturday of the month for people to regularly get together with others who love visual arts. (Not art instruction) Possible activities include: sketching together at various locations; watch the same video demo then paint/draw together; show and tell; go together to local art events; discussion of favorite artists, books, mediums, etc.
Book Club – Janet Goodwin
The group meets 11 times per year to discuss 11 books. The meeting is monthly on the 4th Wednesday, except in November and December that combine into the first Wed of December. Meetings are held at the Peachtree City Library. Books are chosen by the group once a year.
Bridge – Barb Stone
I would like to form a duplicate bridge group, multiples of 4 players are needed for a game.
Bunco Daytime – Stephanie Duvall
We generally gather on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 10 am We meet in a different member's home each month. Everyone is welcome! $5 per person cash into the pot to play. The host provides beverages and snacks and each person is asked to contribute $2 to the host.
Bunco Evening – Stephanie Duvall
We generally gather on the 4th Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm. We meet in a different member's home each month. Everyone is welcome (singles and couples. $5 per person cash into the pot to play. The host provides beverages and snacks and each person is asked to contribute $2 to the host.
Card Making – Hillary CurreyThis group meets on the 3rd Monday of the month from 10:00 am-12:00 pm at a member's home. Supplies are provided.
Everything International (People, Travel, Culture, Food) - Lesley Lee
Were you born outside the U.S.? Have you lived abroad? Do you love traveling Internationally? We meet on the 2nd Friday of the month at 11:30 am. Usually at a member’s home and each person brings a small dish to share. Occasionally we meet at a restaurant.
Flying Solo – Roberta Forbes
Are you single or your significant other isn't available? I’m looking for a few people to help me plan get togethers, outings or activities for this group.
Hand, Knee & Foot Card Game – Roberta Forbes
This is a very easy to learn card game, no experience needed. It is played with partners, so can be played with 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12. Meets twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month from 11:00 am-3:00 pm. Bring lunch for yourself. The monthly event invites will provide locations.
Kayaking --Theresa James
This group is for people who already know how to kayak, have their own kayak, and the ability to transport it. From March to October this group will meet approximately once a month at one of the 3 PTC lakes or Lake Horton, and possibly occasional ventures further away (ex. Sweetwater Creek or the Chattahoochee).
Ladies Eating Healthy – Barbara Freeman
This group meets on the 1st Tuesday of every month at 10:30 am at a member's home. We usually make something together from the "Eating Well" website or various other nutritional based food blogs. All who attend will share the cost of the food ingredients purchased for the meal and varies depending on the recipe / meal prepared.
Ladies Night Out – Ruth Soderholm
Meets on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 4pm at a local establishment. Pay for whatever drinks & food you buy.
Ladies Lunches - Heidi Delvenne
Monthly ladies lunch outing. Details about when and where will be scheduled by Heidi. If you're part of the interest group, you will see it on the events page and get email updates with details.
Ladies Rummy Canasta – Frances Hillman
Meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 12:00 pm-3:00 pm at Partners II Pizza, Braelinn. Pay for any food or drinks you purchase
Matinee Monday – Carol Jensen-Linton
Meets on the first Monday of the month. We try for the earliest matinee available matinee. Feel free to bring family and friends. We will purchase tickets when we get there to allow us to sit in the same row. Information about the movie are sent out the week before.
Sit-n-Stitch – Mary Liotta
Do you like to "stitch"? Bring your project- be it quilting, needlepoint, crewel, cross-stitch, knitting, crocheting, etc. The group meets the 2nd Monday of each month from 1-3 pm at a member's home. Note this is not a teaching session, but rather a time to work on your project in a social setting.
Tuesday Night Flicks – Carol Jensen-Linton
Meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month. Have a quick group dinner at Newk's, 100 Line Creek Dr., PTC between 5-7:00 pm before the show or meet at the NCG Theater for just the movie. A message with the information will go out the weekend before the movie. Pay for your own dinner and movie ticket.
Walk & Talk – Rene Ben-Dor & Lily Travitas
Join us Monday and Friday mornings as we take a 3-mile walk around Lake Peachtree. We start at the Peachtree City Library fountain. Our starting time varies during the different seasons of the year, always between 8:30 - 9:30. Watch the events list for the time each week and any special details. Please register when you plan to walk to we know to look for you before we start.
Wine Club – Nikki Braun
Meets on the 1st Saturday of every month at 7:00 pm. We gather in a different member's home each month and share wine and nibbles. Space is limited by the location and may vary month to month. Each person brings a wine and a food item to share.
